No Teaser Tuesday.

I was going to make a teaser but I couldn’t get all the post-debate crap out of my head.

So many memes, jokes, gifs. Lots of great stuff out there. Then I realized that this isn’t a joke. We are going to vote for one of these people to run our country. Holy shit. So, I did what all good Americans do. I made a meme and posted it on Facebook.

Here is the post:

“In all seriousness, I feel like the debate gave a clear and decisive look at the two people vying for the power to run our country. All jokes aside, there were very valid and poignant points made. Clearly, one candidate proved to be the more mature and intelligent option. At the end of the day, this isn’t a joke or a pun this is the future of our country. Born here or flown here, this is the place we call home. We need to make sure the person running it isn’t going to screw it up. All personal feelings aside, make a choice that helps ALL Americans now and in the future. #VoteSmart

And the meme:

***Although I am blood related to the children in this photo, I didn’t get permission from their parents to use this for my own political agenda. They can sue me or thank me.

Live Through It: Birthday Wisdom

When I was fourteen I knew everything. I’d seen everything. I was right about everything. You couldn’t tell me anything.

When I was twenty-four I was wrong about everything. I screwed up everything. You couldn’t get me to believe in anything.

When I was thirty-four I figured out some things. I saw some things. Learned some things. You couldn’t convince me to change a thing.

Today I’m forty-four. I’ve seen a lot of things. Been through some shitty things. Came through big on some great things. Learned good things. Listened to some better things. Realized things, like things don’t matter. When I thought I knew everything, nothing made sense. When I surrendered to the fact that I knew nothing, my life started to mean something.

I’ve known it all. Seen it all. Loved it all. Left it all. Lost it all. Found it all. Ate it all. Created it all. And most importantly – lived through it all.

When a review makes you cry.

Full disclaimer. I met Rachel at a book signing, so technically I know her personally. But she had already read my book. And no, I didn’t pay her to say these nice things about me.

Rachel is also an author. She wrote a kick ass book about a girl that steals cars.51ONAO4zVZL.jpg

Wish I Knew What I Was Doing Right.

My biggest downfall is marketing. Myself to be exact. Which is ironic since my day job is in, you guessed it, marketing. Promotional Marketing. So, why can’t I market myself? I must totally suck at my job.

As far as marketing my book, I’ve done Facebook Ads, Kindle Ads, Promos, Giveaways, I post on blogs, and social media. I have no idea what what works and what doesn’t because I don’t follow my own rule.

I don’t stick to one strategy and track results. Most of time I’m winging it. Ok, all the time.

So, when something like this happens:

I have no clue what boosted my sudden surge in rankings!

Was it the free giveaway that put my book on everyone’s radar?

Was it the three days I posted buy links on blogs?

Was it the new teaser I plastered on all my social medias?

WHAT!  What did I do right!

Maybe it was nothing. Just dumb luck. Or a marketing fairy is secretly promoting my book while I sleep.

This leads me to my second question:

At what point can I say I’m an Amazon Best Seller? Does ranking in the top 100 in a genre count? Does anyone care?

If you have the answer PLEASE let me know. Seriously. I want to know if I can fly that tagline on the banner of my website.

 Amazon Best Selling Author…

It has a nice flow to it.

The ranking above was for Thizz, A Love Story.

I Discovered Wattpad

I’ve heard the term Wattpad blowing in the wind for some time now. One of my favorite author people – Colleen Hoover – put a book on a Wattpad for free. Thought it was cool.

Fast forward to last night. I was thinking about my novella. I wrote it for charity. I wanted to offer it for free, but Amazon won’t let me. I’ve already given away more copies than I’ve sold, as it should be.

This morning I loaded the book to Wattpad for all to enjoy for free. If you want to buy it on Kindle it’s only 99 cents. Why pay when you can read for free!

The Excursion: A Vacation Novella on Wattpad

You have to create an account on Wattpad to read it, but that’s free too! 2016.01-Iheartfreestuff-new-660px
