Poetry Monday #16

On the first day of sophmore year in high school my science teacher asked us to write an essay about our summer vacation. It’s obvious to me now, that he really didn’t want to work so he dished out an assignment with absolutely nothing to do with science.  Like every summer of my childhood, I did nothing. So, I wrote 500 words, about nothing.

I got an A.

This poem is dedicated to my 10th grade science teacher.

Door Closed. Music On.

Fingers on the keys.  Words don’t come.

No flow.

No luck.

Everything I write totally sucks.

It’s the weather.

The cold.

My hands are numb.

I have no chance of getting work done.

I pace. I eat. I make a cup of tea.

I close my eyes and start to sing.

What inspiration will this song bring?

Nothing.

No clever prose. No funny lines.

At this point I’m just wasting time.

It’s obvious what I’m trying to say.

I have nothing to offer the world today.

My book is on sale. Neat.

My books on sale now through December 7th!

Poetry Monday #15

This week’s poem is dedicated to books.

The ones you read that feel so real.

The ones you read and wish they were real.

I hope my book makes someone feel.

Poetry Monday #14

Happy Monday!

I decided to make my poem into a meme. It’s something I wrote awhile ago when I was in the mindset of Dani, the main character in my novel Thizz, A Love Story.  Which is available now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kindle and Nook. 🙂 In case you want to check it out.

Poetry Monday #13 – Hoover Love

Ok, so yeah. I wrote this 2 weeks ago for Poetry Monday #10. But today is actually November 9th. And Colleen Hoover’s new book November 9 is releasing tomorrow…I want to dedicate this week (again) to Colleen (if that’s her real name) Hoover.

And it’s the 13th installment of Poetry Monday, writing today is bad luck.

Plus, I made this look really pretty.

And it’s my blog and I say who. I way when. I say how much.

Poetry Monday #12 – Ugly Cry

I’m feeling a little out of sorts today.  Maybe it’s the rain.  Or the fact that my book went live yesterday.  It’s probably just the time change.

Not sure how I feel about this one.  Is it dark or light?  I can’t tell yet.

THE UGLY CRY

A song. A commercial. A movie. A look.

The melody of a song. Words in a book.

When you tell me lies. When I speak the truth.

Do I feel too much. Am I out of touch.

With reality.

Or is it because I see. Things other don’t.

Not because they can’t. They just won’t.

They live in darkness. I crave the light.

Even when the view hurts my eyes.

Don’t turn away.

If you refuse to see what I see. You’ll never be free.

Of the things you hate, yet never change.

You have to look past the pain.

Accept the horror to erase the stains.

Open your eyes.

Say goodbye.

Allow yourself to Ugly Cry.

Poetry Monday #11

I decided to write a poem today.  I actually wrote three haiku’s and I couldn’t decided if I liked any of them, so I put them together and they sort of work.  I think.

You live in my heart.
You fill it with dreams and love.
Til’ death do us part.
You live in my heart.
You protect it. You guard it.
Then tear it apart.
You live in my heart.
Together or miles apart.
Where you end, I start.

Poetry Monday #10 – dedicated to Colleen Hoover

I wrote this poem in honor of my favorite author Colleen Hoover.  Who has Never Never let me down. Gnome

I’ve been Slammed by love.

This Girl has been cheated on and dumped.

Until you.

You smile and my knees go weak. My hearts does a dance.

I step back.

This is my Point of Retreat.

I try to leave. You ask me to stay.

It’s a Hopeless fight when you look at me that way.

You offer me wine. I ask the time.

Late.

Rain falls outside. You look at me and smile.

That night.

That night.

You have something to Confess.

It was me.

It was me that you loved.

You waited. Never Losing Hope.

One day.

Maybe Someday our paths would cross.

I’d walk back into your life.

Into a time where our stars would align.

That day is today.

November 9.

Poetry Monday #9 – WORD FIGHT!

I wrote this today and I actually fist pumped the air. That’s how much I love this poem.
It’s actually a Slam. Hopefully, I can write it in a way that conveys the feeling behind the words.

I was going to make this into a meme, I probably will. But I don’t think it’s needs flash to be heard.

WORD FIGHT

I want to kick your ass. You want to take my life.
You pull out a gun. I just want to fight.
That metal in your hand doesn’t make you a man.
You don’t hunt deer, or bears, or ducks.
You hunt people.
Uncles and fathers and sons.
You think you’re hard cause you pop off a round.
Watch people hit the ground.
YOU’RE A PUNK.

I don’t need a weapon to make me proud.
My fist hitting your face makes a beautiful sound.
I don’t need to stop a heart to win a fight.
I won’t drive by your house in the dead of night. Scare your kids. Accidently shoot your WIFE.
I’ll go toe to toe. Look you in eye so you know.
Who to blame. Who kicked your ass. Who proved you GOT NO GAME.

Fuck your gun. Keep your knife.
I’ll smoke you with my words. I’ll punk you with mind.
You don’t need a gun to win this battle.
You need be smart.
Your brain and your heart are the only ammo you need.
To survive.
To succeed.

Life has no value to cowards like you.
That’s what sets us apart.
You got a handful of bullets.
I got a fistful of HEART.
